Our Kiwanis club collaborates with several elementary schools throughout Rapides Parish providing teachers with a way to reward students toward the end of the year with a day at our camp for accomplishing goals set earlier in the year. The Terrific Kids program has been provided by our club for many years.
Yes, “Kids need Kiwanis.” But also, Kiwanis needs kids. Our club members work hard to make these days happen, and it is very rewarding to each Kiwanian. Club members have many great remembrances of these special days (as do the kids!)
Key Club – Sponsorship and Scholarships
Our Kiwanis club sponsors Key Clubs at several High Schools (Menard, ASH, and Oak Hill) collaborating with Faculty Advisors throughout the year and with students in projects like our annual Pancake Breakfast which provides service roles and the opportunity to raise funds to support their projects. Additionally, we provide $1000 scholarships every year to a graduating senior from each club.
Kiwanis Builders Club Sponsor
Oak Hill is the first Builders Club that Kiwanis of Alexandria sponsors.
There are more than 1,500 Builders Clubs in middle schools around the world. No two are alike. Each club is an independent entity-designed for its members, by its members. They work together to improve their schools and their communities. Their service also increases the visibility and enhances the reputation of both the club and the school or organization they represent. The program is designed to fit member and volunteer interests.
Builders Club is uniquely built on an important principle: Amazing things happen when the students take the lead. The program and its resources are designed specifically to help middle school students get the most of of the club experience.
Oak Hill is the first K-Kids Club that Kiwanis of Alexandria sponsors. It was chartered on January 23, 2023 and the charter ceremony was held at the first club meeting on February 17. Initial membership is about 85!
K-Kids is the largest service organization for elementary school students, with more than 36,000 members worldwide. K-Kids is a student-led community service organization that operates under school regulations and draws its members from the student body. A Kiwanis club, composed of like-minded, service-oriented people from the community, serves as the club’s sponsor.
