What We Do

Coats for Kids, Bell Ringing, Crawfish Boil, Pancake Breakfast and more...

Coats for Kids

In 2021, our club presented several hundred coats to the students, teachers, and staff of the D. F. Huddle Elementary School in Alexandria.  The coats were emblazoned with the school logo and name.  Great coverage was provided by the news media of this special event.  The kids and staff loved it.  We’re pretty sure mom and dad did too!

Again in 2022 Kiwanians of the Pineville and Alexandria clubs along with Pineville Key Clubbers presented coats to all the kids and staff of Lessie Moore Elementary School in Pineville.

Bell Ringing

Every year, our club members ring bells for Salvation Army.  The red kettles are filled generously by generous shoppers, helping the Salvation Army help those in need in the community.  Thanks to Bart Schmolke for organizing this event on Mondays in December, and to all the club members who give of their time.

Annual Fundraiser

Volumes of crawfish or shrimp are typically consumed by community members including Kiwanians, families, and others. This is a great way to get the Kiwanis name out into the community while raising funds that help our club to maintain and improve the camp and support some of our projects for children and the community.

Annual Fundraiser – 2024 Shrimp Boil

Past-President Bill Halliburton has been the leader of this successful event for many years.

Pancake Breakfast

Kiwanis of Alexandria along with our sponsored Key Clubs (ASH, Menard, Oak Hill) cook, flip, and serve pancakes and sausage to family, friends, and neighbors on a fun-filled Saturday morning each fall.  Funds raised are used by Key Clubs for service projects and by Kiwanis for the Kiwanis Club of Alexandria Foundation – Scholarship Fund for Key Club and Youth Challenge Program scholarships.

The 2024 Pancake Breakfast was on Saturday, November 2, at the First United Methodist Church; it was a great success.
